A message from our Roads Policing Unit:

We'd like to draw your attention to some issues we have had with youths from the Gainsborough Road area of Basingstoke that have been accessing the hard shoulder of the M3 by breaking a gate and throwing rocks and bricks at vehicles on the motorway. 

Since the 26/04/2024 we've have had 3 separate incidents whereby several vehicles being damaged including a HGV which had its windscreen smashed after being hit by a brick. 

We have been passed very vague descriptions, all we have been told is that they are aged around 10-12 years old. 

This is clearly a very dangerous act and if it continues, then fatalities are a possibility as a result of this reckless action.
