Speeding Across the New Forest

YOU SAID - WE DID

One of the most frequent requests we receive, almost on a daily basis, is to carry out Op Mountie sessions across the New Forest.

Op Mountie is our multi agency approach to reducing speed and animal deaths across the New Forest. We work closely with Forestry England, the New Forest National Park Authority and the New Forest Roads Awareness Team and hold sessions at various times of the day and night and at various locations. Op Mountie is a mixture of enforcement and education and we believe it is having a positive effect.

At the recent Burley Parish Council AGM, the Ringwood Neighbourhood Policing Team were asked if they could hold sessions on POUND Lane and FOREST Road in the village as well on the 40mph roads leading into and out of the village.

On Thursday 13th June we held 3 sessions at those venues and several vehicles were stopped. Two drivers were given tickets for recording speeds of 50mph on the 40mph road at Goatspen.

The New Forest Heart Police Team is committed to reducing speed and animal deaths and injuries across the Forest, so if you know of a road that we should visit for a future Op Mountie session please let us know.

Many thanks

Richard
