A round-up of some of the latest activity on the beat

Good afternoon. How are you all? Hope you’re doing okay. We just wanted to bring you a little round-up of just some of the activity of our officers from the last 72 hours or so.

• Every now and then, and to our surprise, some will ask us what high-visibility routine patrols achieve. We occasionally see it in the comments on our posts. The answer is ‘a great deal’, whether that be on bike, on foot, or in a vehicle.

They provide a deterrent to potential criminals, they enable us to engage face-to-face with our community, they allow us to observe and gather intelligence, they provide us with the opportunities to disrupt and deal with criminality in progress, they allow us to quickly respond to incidents happening nearby, they make people feel safer to see officers in their area, and much, much more.

They also, as was the case on Wednesday, ensure we’re often in the right place at the right time to locate and remove a potentially dangerous weapon from the streets. Officers seized a knife and made sure it didn’t fall into the wrong hands.

• Laundry products, pictured below, were also recovered following a report of a shoplifting on Tuesday evening (25 June). The investigation into the incident is ongoing and enquiries continue at this time.
