Man, 44, sentenced following shoplifting from New Milton store


A 44-year-old man from Christchurch, Dorset has received a 12-month conditional discharge and been ordered to pay compensation following a shoplifting in New Milton.

James Dempsey, of Glenville Road, Walkford pleaded guilty to stealing ten lamb leg steaks, valued at £67.50, from Marks and Spencer, Station Road on Saturday (29 June).

Dempsey was remanded in custody and appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday 1 July).

The compensation he must now pay is equivalent to the value of the items he stole.
