A little update for the Bay following the weekend.

PC Carey, your Designated Named ‘Beat’ Officer for Ventnor and Shanklin is pictured taking a moment to enjoy the view whilst on E-Bike patrol in Ventnor. I joined PC Carey for a patrol of Shanklin and then used the old railway line cycle path to get to Ventnor where we spent a few hours patrolling the ‘Hot Spots’ for ASB and Drug use – we had a positive stop search for Drugs and the offender has been issued with an out of court disposal and a mandated Drug Support workshop.

We spoke to some lovely local businesses and residents throughout Ventnor – this picturesque seaside town has been suffering with reduced road access, it really is the most wonderful spot to visit and I would encourage Island residents and visitors to make the effort to travel down – with the views and wonderful local restaurants, cafes and shops it really is worth the trip!

We had success in Sandown as we disrupted Anti-Social Vehicles in Yaverland Car park and arrested a 39 year old man from Sandown for shoplifting with some of the stolen property recovered and returned. Groups have also been dispersed from the shelters on Sandown Seafront for Anti-Social Behaviour and breaching the non-drinking order in place.

We have been completing some important safeguarding work with vulnerable young people in Lake, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor – breaking the cycle of Child Criminal Exploitation by preventing our young people from falling into it utilising our partners in health, education, housing and the incredible youth provision at Community Action IOW.
