Totton man charged with shoplifting and assault offences


A man has been charged following theft and assault offences at a Totton store.
 

On Sunday 18 August chocolate was stolen from the Co-op store on Rumbridge Street.

 

When a member of security staff tried to intervene he was threatened and assaulted, causing a minor injury to his lip.

 

 

Officers arrested a man and while in custody he threw a cup at a police officer and broke a perspex screen, which then hit officers.

 

Ethan Lockyer, 18, of Haydock Close in Totton, has been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, one count of theft, one count of criminal damage and one count of breaking bail conditions.

 

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18 September.
