 Officers investigating a recent series of arsons at the Ocean Hotel in Sandown have arrested a third man as part of enquiries.

Today (Wednesday 4 September) a 20-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of arson. He remains in custody at this time.

We have previously arrested another 20-year-old man, from Sandown, on suspicion of arson, and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of arson.

They have both been released on conditional bail until 3 December and 8 November respectively.

Our investigation into these arson incidents continues, and the South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team are following up every line of enquiry. Police also continue to patrol the area, and are working with local partners to resolve issues regarding the site, its security and the associated anti-social behaviour and criminality.
