Good Afternoon from South Wight Neighbourhoods Team!
If you find this information helpful please “rate” this message at the bottom (very quick and simple).
We have been out on foot patrol in Ventnor this morning and 101 Steps was a nice early workout – the view from the top was worth the effort though! Lots of great interactions with local residents and business owners – it is clear that Ventnor is still struggling as a town with the road closure back in place – make sure you take time to come and visit to support the local businesses!
PCSO Webb spotted an outstanding Suspect in Sandown this morning, the Suspect tried to run away but was no match for our E-Bikes!
After a short E-Bike vs Trainers pursuit, a 53 year old male from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of Possession of an Offensive Weapon and Public Order offences by our Armed Response Officers who attended to support PCSO Webb – he remains in Police Custody at the time of writing.
PCSO Wheeler has been out in Shanklin following up on some Anti-Social Behaviour reports. Even if we can’t attend at the time, we follow-up on every report of Anti-Social Behaviour in our towns as every report you make helps us to target patrols, identify repeat offenders and utilise prevention orders.
PC Carey has had another two positive Stop Searches whilst in Operation Antidote Hot Spots – this Operation is our response to targeting and reducing Drug use and Supply.
PC Trickey updated you from the Ocean Hotel on Monday – the metal sheet boarding being applied is the result of lots of hard work from Planning Services, Community Safety Partnership, Outreach, Local Authority Housing Needs and our team. This is just one step towards securing a long term solution.
Thank you to everyone who has viewed and commented our short videos and FaceBook Live recording last Friday – hopefully you found them useful and informative!
All the Best
