Farnborough Theft of Motor Bike

Good evening Resident,

You are receiving this alert to make you aware of a theft of motorbike, and to provide some crime prevention advice in the case that you own a motorbike / similar, and wish to take steps to further secure your bike.

Unfortunately , overnight between the 9th to 10th October, a motorbike was stolen from a residential estate within Farnborough, happily the bike has since been returned to the owner.

Please could we ask that if you live on the ‘Sun Micro Systems’ estate, Hurst Avenue, Yeomans Lane, Nightjar Close and surrounding roads, that you check any home cctv you have for the 9th to 10th October, if you have any that causes concern please contact us quoting 44240440125 so that we can request your cctv, thank you.

Please see below some ideas to help increase security for a motorbike:

* Purchase a disc lock

*Consider an alarmed disc lock ( but be aware that in strong winds these certainly use to cause the alarm to sound)

*Cover your bike when not in use to prevent it being so easily seen

*Use the Steering lock function

*Consider a ground anchor and a hefty chain and padlock

*Make use of a D lock on the front wheel to prevent it being wheeled away

*Use a chain lock through the rear wheel

*Park within a garage where possible

*Park behind an obstruction such as fencing etc if a garage isn't available

*Install an alarm system

*Place a tracking device

If you have any queries please let me know, and please feel free to forward this alert to anyone you know who loves their bike!

Kind Regards

Annette
