A man has been jailed for 18 weeks in prison after admitting a public order offence and threatening to damage a laptop.
Ben Nelson, 24, of no fixed abode, appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court on Monday 21 October.
The court heard that Nelson had been verbally abusive to a member of staff at a Test Valley Borough Council building in Romsey during a meeting on Friday 11 October.
He also picked up the worker’s laptop and threatened to throw it.
The court heard that later that day Nelson stole alcohol from the Co-op store in The Hundred, Romsey and verbally abused a member of staff before walking out.
Nelson pleaded guilty to the two public order offences, threatening to damage/destroy property and theft from a shop, all relating to the offences that day.
He also admitted four shoplifting offences, which related to separate instances of stealing alcohol from the same Co-op store.
He was jailed for 18 weeks and ordered to pay £121 in compensation.
