Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team announces new dedicated town centre operation

Basingstoke’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has today launched a new dedicated town centre operation.

The operation will focus on reducing and preventing crime in the town centre, including issues relating to anti-social behaviour, business crime and night-time economy.

From Friday 1 November, three police officers and a PCSO will be led by A/Police Sergeant Charlotte Warhurst and there will be two officers on duty every day and night in the town centre.

The full dedicated officers will take part in regular patrols and will build on existing relationships with partners to continue to keep Basingstoke safe.

A/Police Sergeant Charlotte Warhurst, the town centre’s local bobby, said: “I’m pleased we will have dedicated officers in place to make sure Basingstoke town centre remains a safe place for people to live, work and visit.

“Our officers will provide a visible presence, carry out regular patrols, and will continue to work with partners to address issues in the town centre.

“We are always looking at the ways we can best serve the public and have listened to residents and local businesses, so hopefully this move has the desired positive impact for all.”
