Police continue to thoroughly investigate the serious assault of a man in Eastleigh last Thursday (31 October). Officers were called at 11.23pm on the evening in question to reports that an 18-year-old man had been located with a stab wound to his abdomen on Shorts Road. The man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. His condition is thankfully now described as stable. Eastleigh District Commander, Chief Inspector Matt Paling, said: “My teams and officers have been working tirelessly, around the clock, since this report was first made to us. “Thanks to their hard work, the investigation was progressed at a pace, and two boys and a man were all subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. “The 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy, both from Bishopstoke, and 24-year-old man from Chandler’s Ford have since been released on conditional police bail, as multiple further enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident. “The conditions of their bail include curfews, exclusion zones and non-association with other individuals. “I fully understand the significant concern that an incident such as this one will have caused within the wider community, and beyond. “But, I hope the rapid developments in our investigation will offer you all reassurance that we are determined to bring those responsible to account, and that our relentless hard work and enquiries will continue to ensure this happens.” On what the public should expect over the coming days, Chief Inspector Paling, said: “You will continue to see my officers in the area of the incident as those enquiries and further reassurance patrols continue. “Please look out for them on your travels and please come over and have a chat with them if there’s anything else you would like to discuss, ask or share with them. “We’ll be sure to keep you all updated on the latest in our investigation as and when we are able to. “Finally, I would like to share my thoughts and support for the victim and his family following this incident. This is a traumatic ordeal which nobody should have to endure, and I hope the victim continues to make progress in his recovery.” We’d like to thank those of you who have already come forward with information regarding the incident. We would still like to hear from more witnesses, including anyone who was in the Shorts Road and New Century Park area at the time. If you were driving through the area at the time and have any dash cam footage that may assist our investigation, please also get in touch.
