South Wight Neighbourhoods have had a busy start to the weekend!

Whilst on a pro-active Op Spider foot patrol of Ventnor, PCSO Downing and PCSO Wheeler located a large group of young people who were drinking alcohol, using Cannabis and causing Anti-Social Behaviour. PC Carey and I attended to assist and with a Section 34 Dispersal Authority in hand we divided and conquered the group as they moved from Ventnor Park, via Flowers Brook and Steephill Cove. With the help of officers from Sgt Pegler's 'A' Shift District Patrol Team  we managed to separate and remove the group from Ventnor entirely.

Earlier in the night PCSO Downing and PCSO Wheeler had been in attendance at TC's Youth Club in Shanklin engaging with some really lovely young people, their families and our local partners. PCSO May delivered a well received input on Knife Crime awareness at the Bay Secondary School and was on proactive patrol with PCSO Webb throughout Sandown and Lake this evening. All officers have been out engaging with our Communities using our Lets Talk Survey - https://www.hampshire.police.uk/police-forces/hampshire-constabulary/areas/campaigns/lets-talk/

Anti-Social behaviour continues to reduce throughout the bay - in part due to the robust tactics we demonstrated in Ventnor last night and also due to strong partnership work with Education, Youth Justice, Health, Youth Diversion Services and other key partners under Operation Spider.

Have a great weekend!

All the Best

Sgt Sharland
