Police are seeking key witnesses to a serious assault in Southampton as a man is arrested in connection with the incident.
A 38-year-old man from London has now been arrested in Croydon on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the serious assault of an 18-year-old man in the Hill Lane area in the early hours of Sunday 10 November.
He has been released from police custody on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
This comes as we were called at 1.10am on Sunday 10 November to a report that a man had been located on Hill Lane with serious injuries, suspected to have been caused by a bladed object, to his back and wrist.
Police and colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service attended and the man, who is 18, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. He has since been discharged.
A 17-year-old boy also sustained injuries in the incident. He was also treated and is no longer in hospital.
Since this was reported to us an investigation has been ongoing, and as part of our enquiries we have also arrested a 35-year-old woman from Southampton on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation.
A 17-year-old boy previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident has been released from the investigation with no further action to be taken against him.
Detectives investigating the assault are still keen to hear from anyone with information about this incident who has not yet spoken to police.
We are keen to hear specifically from anybody who was in Sony’s Bar, Shirley Road, between 7pm and 11pm on the evening of Saturday 9 November. If you were in Sony’s Bar and witnessed any altercations, or any behaviour that seemed suspicious, we would like to hear from you.
We would also like to trace the owner of a red car, pictured, which was travelling along Hill Lane at 1am on Sunday 10 November. We appreciate that these images are not of the best quality, and we are carrying out further enquiries in order to obtain clearer images. We believe the occupants of this vehicle may have seen something significant and we are really eager to hear from them.
Anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to officers is asked to call 101 quoting reference 44240489487. Alternatively, you can go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
