Shoplifter, 31, jailed after stealing items and breaching Community Protection Notice in Basingstoke

A woman has been jailed after she stole items from a shop and breached a Community Protection Notice (CPN) in Basingstoke.

Stacie Campbell, 31, of Castle Road, Basingstoke, stole household items worth £63.97 from Savers in Festival Place on 19 November.

She breached her CPN after she entered Festival Place on three occasions throughout November.

Campbell was arrested and later charged with one count of theft from a shop and three counts of failing to comply with a CPN.

She pleaded guilty to all offences and was jailed for eight weeks at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday (19 December).

A/Police Sergeant Charlotte Warhurst, Basingstoke town centre’s Local Bobby, said: "Stacie Campbell is a prolific offender and we know her actions have had a considerable impact on our local businesses and the wider community.

"Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Basingstoke.

"The actions of shoplifters make a huge difference to shop owners as they will have to recover the costs which have been lost. This results in shops typically increasing prices, which has a huge impact on the wider public.

"This sentencing should send a clear message to others who are thinking about stealing from businesses in our area. It will not be tolerated and we will work hard to bring you before the courts, where you will face the consequences."
