Man charged following burglary at Southampton city centre restaurant

A man has been charged after a restaurant was broken into on Southampton High Street yesterday morning (Monday 30 December).

Police were called at 9am to a report that a man had broken into Kesarum and was causing damage inside the premises.

Officers attended as the crime was in progress and the man ran out of the building and climbed several floors of Eastgate Street multi-storey car park.

Colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service joined officers at the scene to ensure the safety of the man and members of the public.

Anthony Gormley, 30, of Walpole Gardens in Chiswick, has now been charged with burglary and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 31 December).
