A woman has been arrested following a shoplifting incident in Basingstoke yesterday.

We were called at 2.24pm on Monday 6 January to a report that items worth approximately £500 had been stolen from the Superdry and Monsoon stores in Festival Place.

A woman was threatened while a man was assaulted during the incident inside the shopping centre. Officers attended the scene and made an arrest.

A 50-year-old woman from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop, criminal damage and common assault.

She has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
