Good Morning, I’ve had a busy few shifts, always trying to balance the need for visibility, community engagement and the necessary admin. I’ve still been out on my bike despite the cold, I visited the YoutHouse in West End on Thursday evening and of course I already posted on Facebook about the Scouts visit on Friday evening. Yesterday I cycled 16.5 miles covering, Hedge End, West End and Botley. I rode around some of the new housing in Botley trying to get bearings and get used to the layout of the roads. I also stopped in Botley High Street and did several Let’s Talk surveys. I decided to have my meal break in McDonalds and warm up at the same time – this is becoming a regular stop for me now to get a hot chocolate to warm up while I’m out on cycle patrol. So if you see me in McDonalds please feel free to come over to me and have a chat, I’m very happy to do a Let’s Talk survey with you and or answer any questions you have. While in West End I was given some drug dealing information by a member of the public. Please do stop me when you see me out on my bike and let me know about drug related issues – we can build a picture of what is happening and use the information to take action. When was I was in Hedge End patrolling the St Lukes area, there were 6 local young men (aged around 17) gathered in the cut through between Barfoot Road and Charterhouse Way at the metal barriers – please can parents speak to their young people about gathering / meeting or hanging out in pinch point areas like this, as it can be very intimidating to other members of the community to have to walk through 6 young men in order to get to the shops. Today I have a meeting in person to catch up about Community Speedwatch. Speeding continues to be a top priority given by residents in the Lets Talk surveys and we do need more volunteers to join this amazing team of people. Can you spare a few hours a month to educate residents about their speeding behaviour and reduce the risks on your local roads? If you can help please email speedwatch@hampshire.police.uk I also have a ‘Child In Need’ (CIN) multi agency meeting on Teams today for one of the children I manage living in West End – this is a regular meeting with the various agencies to follow up actions and share information about the child's needs and how they are doing. My next Beat Surgery / Meeting is Thursday 16th December 7-8pm at the Old Fire Station, West End. I look forward to meeting more residents. | ||||
