A man has been charged with shoplifting in Basingstoke.

We received reports that food items worth £629 had been stolen from Co-op on Broadmere Road in Beggarwood between 18 November and 15 January.

Officers launched an investigation and arrested a man.

Charlie Downham, 34, of Wentworth Crescent, Basingstoke, has now been charged with 10 counts of theft from a shop.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (16 January).
