Officers are appealing for witnesses and information after receiving a report of a suspicious incident in Fleet. We received a report that a 12-year-old girl was approached by a white van on Beech Ride at around 2.40pm on Wednesday 15 January. It was reported that the passenger, a white man aged in his late 20s to early 30s, who was wearing an orange jumper, spoke to the girl and offered her sweets. The girl did not respond and walked away from the van. The driver then left the area. Since this was reported to us, officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries, including reassurance patrols in the local area. Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and would like witnesses to come forward. Were you in the area at the time? Did you witness any suspicious behaviour or a white van? Fleet Police Sergeant Geoff Hill said: “We know this incident may be concerning to the local community, however I would like to reassure you that we are taking this report seriously. “We have been carrying out regular reassurance patrols in the area and anyone with information which could help our enquiries should get in touch with us. “I would urge residents to continue to report incidents to us as soon as they happen as it enables our teams to respond accordingly.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting the reference number 44250022463.
