VEHICLE SAFETY: On the 16/01/25 our Gosport Neighbourhood Policing team conducted foot patrols in Bridgemary, Rowner and Lee-On-The-Solent after reports of cars being broken into. The objective of our patrols were to prevent this from happening but to also check if residents vehicles were locked. Out of the 422 vehicles checked across the areas, 15 vehicles were found unlocked. The owners of said vehicles were contacted and locked them after Officers gave them some crime prevention advice. Officers are investigating the theft from vehicle incidents, however safeguarding must be taken to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim. Please make sure you are double checking your vehicle is indeed locked and that all valuables are removed either from the vehicle or from eyesight. We have also been made aware of drug activity taking place in the underpass at Fell Drive, Lee-On-The-Solent. Because of this, we also included this during our patrols. Whilst conducting our patrols, we visited Marine Parade East car parks as part of Op NIGHTFALL. A report was received of vehicles revving their engines and speeding along the seafront. Fortunately, everyone present were well behaved and even enjoying a game of Monopoly. Whilst we appreciate the car park is a lovely place to meet friends and socialise, anyone caught revving their engines and/or speeding will be sanctioned with fines and points on their license.
