A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences following a foot chase in Basingstoke last night. Officers were on patrol when they noticed suspicious activity linked to a silver Volkswagen Polo on the A30 near Hatch Warren at around 8.30pm on 21 January. The vehicle was driven into Alderney Avenue and police signalled for the car to stop. The driver then decamped from the vehicle and a short foot chase ensued. Officers caught up with the driver and made an arrest on a footpath near Woodbury Road. Following a search, officers found 16 bags of suspected Class A drugs and £480 in cash. All items, including a mobile phone, were seized. A 41-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He remains in custody while our enquiries continue. | ||||
