A man has been charged with shoplifting in Basingstoke.

We were called yesterday (23 January) to a report of a shoplifting incident at Tesco Express near Festival Place.

It was reported that alcohol worth £12 had been stolen. Officers attended the scene and made an arrest.

Stuart Johnston, 46, of no fixed abode, has been charged with theft from a shop.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today.
