Good afternoon residents of Winchester,
Over the past few weeks myself and PC Jeffery have unfortunately been made aware of several thefts from doorsteps in the St Cross, Town Centre and Stanmore areas. Although these all appear to be linked to a recent spike in the South area, we have seen previous reports across the Winchester City area.
In all reports, victims have had postal deliveries taken from their doorsteps during both daylight and hours of darkness.
One suspect has been interviewed by officers from the Winchester Neighbourhood Policing Team with the investigation still ongoing.
I would like to use this Hampshire Alert as a reminder to keep vigilant of your belongings, and suggest several different ways of keeping your post safe!

Companies including Evri, InPost, Amazon and Royal Mail now offer local sites where those sending and receiving parcels can keep them safe in locked lockers, ready for pick-up from couriers. The links above will show you maps and any FAQs you may have. A lot of these lockers are available 24/7 for easy access.
If you are the victim of a doorstep theft, please report it to us via 101 in an emergency, or 999 if the crime is in progress.
