A shoplifter has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) following persistent offending in Basingstoke. Stacie Campbell, 31, of Castle Road, Basingstoke, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday (30 January) and was handed the CBO, which will last for two years. Magistrates were provided with evidential documents by police detailing her offending, including a report that perfume worth £134 had been stolen from Superdrug on 16 December. Campbell was charged with theft from a shop and failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice. She pleaded guilty to both offences. Under the conditions of the order, Campbell is banned from entering Festival Place or The Malls. If she fails to comply with these conditions, she risks being arrested and prosecuted further. A/Police Sergeant Charlotte Warhurst, Basingstoke town centre’s local bobby, said: "Stacie Campbell is a prolific offender and we know her actions have had a considerable impact on our local businesses and the wider community. "We hope this reassures the local community that we will continue to take action and also explore other options – such as this CBO – to prevent further offending in the district. "We want the community to keep reporting incidents of anti-social behaviour and business crime around the town to police, so we can continue to work with partners to address these behaviours, and take appropriate action against any criminal offences." | ||||
