Officers investigating an unauthorised car meet in Yateley have issued two Section 59 warnings and seized a car. We attended Blackbushe Business Park on Friday 6 December after officers heard excessive car noise coming from the area. Residents had also reported that vehicles were being driven in a dangerous and anti-social manner. When we arrived, all vehicles were parked, however their details were recorded. We then carried out an investigation and obtained CCTV from local businesses, which has resulted in the following action being taken: An 18-year-old man from Aldershot was handed a Section 59 warning and a Traffic Offence Report for driving without due care and attention. A 21-year-old man from Camberley also received a Section 59 warning. A white Nissan car was seized in Southampton and further action is being considered against the driver. The S59 warnings now mean police can seize their vehicles if they continue to display anti-social behaviour. PC Kevan Wright, from Yateley NPT, said: “We want to stress that anti-social behaviour and anti-social use of vehicles will not be tolerated in Hart. “We are not against people gathering to show their vehicles and socialising because of their interest in cars. However, we will not tolerate dangerous or illegal activities on our roads. “We want to keep our community safe and the slightest mistake at a car meet can cause serious injuries or even result in someone losing their life. “People need to think carefully about how they behave on the roads as we know the significant impact these kind of incidents can have on our community. “A force operation, known as Op Chromium, was set up in 2022 so officers could allocate resources in order to tackle the anti-social use of motor vehicles. “We would like to reassure local residents that we take any report of anti-social use of vehicles extremely seriously and our officers will do everything they can to ensure that those responsible will face the consequences of their actions.” | ||||
