Man arrested following house burglaries in Southampton

A 42-year-old man is in police custody after two houses were burgled in Southampton last night (Thursday 6 February).

We received a report that some time between 7pm and 10.30pm a house on Lodge Road was broken into and a Nintendo Wii, an Amazon Firestick and a box of wine was taken.

We were then called shortly before midnight to a report that a house had been broken into on Gordon Avenue. It was reported that a man had broken into the property and stolen three laptops, he ran away when he was disturbed by the occupants.

Police were deployed and spotted a man matching the description of the suspect walking along Northlands Road. He was detained and items suspected to have been stolen from Gordon Road and Lodge Road were located.

The man, who is 42 and from Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody at the current time. Our enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.
