A man has been arrested on suspicion of a drug offence following a proactive stop in Basingstoke yesterday. Officers from the Priority Crime Team carried out plain-clothed patrols in various parts of the town on Sunday 9 February. They spotted suspicious activity linked to a Hyundai car at around 12pm and followed it before it came to a natural stop on Baird Avenue. The driver attempted to flee the scene, but he was detained by officers. Following a search, officers located and seized suspected Class A drugs and £90 in cash. The vehicle – which was not insured or in the driver’s name – was also seized. A 41-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A and driving while unfit through drugs. He has been bailed, pending further enquiries. | ||||
