A shoplifter has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) following persistent offending in Waterlooville.

Kaya Evans, 31, of no fixed abode, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Friday 7 February and was handed the CBO, which will last for two years.

During the hearing, magistrates were provided with evidential documents by police detailing her offending. Under the conditions of the order, Evans is banned from entering any Co-op store, the One Stop on Hart Plain Avenue and Tesco Express on London Road.

She must also not enter any business premises if she does not have the means to purchase goods.

PC Kris Thomas, Waterlooville North’s local bobby, said: "Kaya Evans is a prolific offender and we know her actions have had a considerable impact on our local businesses and the wider community.

"We hope this reassures the local community that we will continue to take action and also explore other options – such as this CBO – to prevent further offending in the town.

"We want the community to keep reporting incidents of business crime to police, so we can continue to work with partners to address these behaviours, and take appropriate action against any criminal offences."
