ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT SPEEDING? IS IT AN ISSUE WHERE YOU LIVE?

Good Afternoon Resident

As part of my PCSO role, I support and assist, our fantastic Community Speedwatch (CSW) Team. Please check out my video here Community Speedwatch Video

ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING OUR ROADS SAFER?

CAN YOU SPARE JUST A FEW HOURS A MONTH? OR DO YOU KNOW OF ANYONE MIGHT WANT TO JOIN OUR CSW TEAM?

Community Speedwatch is run by residents from the local community and we need more volunteers – otherwise we run the risk losing this amazing team and the valuable work they do.

Our CSW team cover the whole of the Hedge End Sector – Hedge End, West End, Botley, Bursledon, Netley and Hamble.

Of the 578 residents who have completed our Let’s Talk Survey in the past 6 months, 308 gave the answer of SPEEDING as one of their top 5 issues. And 117 residents said it was THE TOP issue. So we know that speeding is a real issue for the community.

Are you passionate about making our roads safer? Can you spare just a few hours a month? IF SO, WE NEED YOU! Please email us – speedwatch@hampshire.police.uk

Please share this message with anyone who might be interested in joining our team. And into your local Facebook groups. Could you help by displaying our poster for us please? See the attached poster.

Whilst Community Speedwatch is an educational scheme, the data that’s collected, is then shared with our Neighbourhood police officers and the Roads Policing Unit, so they know where is best to allocate enforcement resources.

I know not everyone is a fan of Community Speedwatch, or speed enforcement – and to those people I will say this – Speeding is one of the ‘Fatal Four’ - these are the four poor driving habits, that pose the greatest risk of leading to a serious or fatal collision – so we will continue to do what we can, to target those who speed. If you are not speeding, you have nothing to worry about. And please remember the speed limit is not a target to achieve – it is the maximum speed you should be driving on that road.

If you know of any roads that you think would benefit from Community Speedwatch, please let us know by giving us the ‘what 3 words’ location and the times of day that you believe this is a problem. We need both of these, in order to review a potential site for Community Speedwatch sessions.
