Appeal for information after attempted robbery in Portsmouth


We are appealing for witnesses and information after an attempted robbery on Fratton Road in Portsmouth.

We received a report that just after 4:00pm on Sunday 16 February, a woman in her 30s was approached by a man near to the Smart Stop on Fratton Road, who demanded she hand over her mobile phone.

The man reportedly grabbed the woman, but she fought him off and he ran away towards Fratton train station.

The woman sustained a minor injury to her finger during the incident. 

We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or recognises the man, who has been described as follows:

  • White
  • Aged in his late 30s to early 40s
  • 5ft 7 inches – 5ft 8 inches tall
  • Fair, strawberry blonde hair
  • Very skinny build
  • Wearing a grey baseball cap and a dark grey tracksuit
  • Walks with a slight hunch
