We have arrested two teenagers following a number of reports to police yesterday afternoon (Sunday 9 March) about motorcycles being ridden dangerously in the Lordshill and Thornhill areas of Southampton.
We received several calls shortly after 3pm that motorcycles were being ridden on footpaths and in parks, as well as travelling at excess speed. Officers attended to ensure the safety of members of the public and arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Southampton, on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously. They were taken into custody and have been released on police bail with conditions while further enquiries are carried out. | |
Our response to this incident forms part of our ongoing work to tackle motorcycle-related anti-social behaviour in the Lordshill and Thornhill areas and we will continue with our dedicated patrols in the affected areas this week.
We know how intimidating and frightening this type of behaviour can be for people who are just trying to go about their daily business safely, and we are taking these reports extremely seriously.
Please keep reporting any incidents of this nature to us - the more we know about it, the more we can do to target it.
