Police statement following the serious assault of a man in Southampton


An investigation has been launched after the serious assault of a man in Southampton yesterday evening (Thursday 13 March).

 

We were called at 10.08pm to a report that a man had been seriously assaulted at the junction of St Mark’s Road, Northbrook Road and Nichols Road.

 

Officers attended alongside colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service and a man in his 30s was located with a gunshot wound to his arm. He has been taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing at the current time.

 

 

An investigation is underway today and we are currently at the scene carrying out enquiries.


Road closures are currently in place in the area. 
 

We do not currently believe there to be a wider risk to the public. We are carrying out enquiries as a matter of urgency in order to identify and locate those responsible.

 

Officers will remain in the area today and can be approached with any concerns, information or questions.

 

As our investigation progresses today we are keen to hear from anyone was in the vicinity of Derby Road, St Mark’s Road, Northbrook Road or Nichols Road yesterday evening shortly after 10pm. Did you witness anything suspicious or out of place, or did you witness the assault itself, the moments leading up to it or the aftermath? Perhaps you were driving through the area and have dash cam that may have captured something.
