Two men charged following reports of dangerous driving incident in Basingstoke


Two men have been charged following reports of a dangerous driving incident in Basingstoke.

It comes after officers attempted to stop a black Ford Focus – suspected to have been stolen from an address in Basingstoke – on the M3, near junction 7, on Tuesday 26 November.

The vehicle was driven through various parts of Basingstoke before a minor collision occurred involving the Ford Focus and a blue Peugeot in Cliddesden. No injuries were reported.

Two men were arrested near Cambrian Way on 26 November, while a third man was arrested in the Bournemouth area on 27 November.

Yesterday (7 April), two men were charged in connection with the incident.

Benjamin Holden, 22, of Watertower Way, Basingstoke, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop a vehicle when required, driving whilst disqualified and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Joshua Lennon, 22, of Portsmouth Way, Basingstoke, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking – dangerous driving and possessing a controlled drug of Class B.

They have been bailed with conditions and are due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Tuesday 6 May. 

A 21-year-old man, previously from Bournemouth, but now from Woking, who was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving a vehicle dangerously and failing to stop, has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
