Witness appeal after woman is helped by group of men in Farnborough after assault

Investigating officers would like to appeal for a group of witnesses to come forward after they helped a woman in Farnborough after she was assaulted.

We were called to a report that a woman had been punched by a man known to her inside a van as it travelled from Eversley to Farnborough at around 8.30pm on Saturday 8 March.

When the vehicle approached the roundabout at the junction of Hawley Lane and Farnborough Road, the woman exited the van.

A group of men in their 20s/30s intervened and told the man to leave the woman alone and later walked her to Frimley High Street at around 8.45pm.

The woman, who is in her 20s, had suffered bruises and cuts to her arms, shoulders and legs.

We know the incident took place last month, however new information has just come to light and officers are hoping to speak with the group who helped the woman. Officers believe the men may have vital information which could help the investigation.

As part of our enquiries, a 31-year-old man from Yateley was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, kidnap, engaging in controlling / coercive behaviour and false imprisonment. He has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.

If you have any information, or if you were part of the group that kindly helped the woman after the incident, please get in touch.

You can call 101, quoting the reference number 44250103813. Alternatively, you can submit information online here: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
