We are appealing for witnesses and information that could assist with our investigation into a fatal house fire in Alton.

We were called at 4am on Monday 14 April, to reports of a fire at a house in Heron Close, Alton.

Firefighters and police attended but, sadly, a man in his 90s and a woman in her 80s were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their next of kin have been informed.

An investigation is underway alongside Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to determine the cause of the fire and establish the circumstances of what took place.

We would like to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist with our enquiries. 

This includes anyone who has CCTV or doorbell footage in the area, or anyone who has dashcam footage of the area around this time.
