Community Speedwatch - Hedge End South - Netley

Good Resident

Today our fantastic Community Speedwatch (CSW) Team were out in Station Road, Netley. Several residents stopped to talk about the speeding along the road and to thank the team for their work. One driver was clocked at 42mph in this 30mph limit.

Thank you to those who have recently joined the team - we now have a good number of volunteers to sustain the team for the foreseeable future.

The speeding information that CSW collect using the CSW kit, is not only used to educate those speeding at that time, but is also very useful for both the Special Constables and our NPT (Neighbourhood Policing Team) officers. We use this information to then target the roads where speeding is found to be a problem for enforcement (issuing fines).

There have been several questions about the CSW on previous posts – however I simply do not have the time to continue to respond to these. If you have questions regarding the volunteers, the running of the scheme, the data or anything else CSW related - please can you email these to the CSW central team and they will be very happy to respond to you – speedwatch@hampshire.police.uk

The team volunteer their time and efforts to –

•           Reduce the speed of vehicles to the speed limit.

•           Increase public awareness of inappropriate speed.

•           Reduce death and injury on the roads.

•           Empower local people to take action on local issues.

•           Improve the quality of life for local communities by increasing their confidence and satisfaction in the way speeding issues are dealt with.
