Lost and stolen personal and financial details #FraudFree2026 |
Good afternoon, The vast majority of fraud reports we receive from residents of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight relate to online fraud, often via social media. However, fraud happens in lots of ways, for example, if your bank cards/driving licence/passport have been lost or stolen from your bag, vehicle or home, you may later discover that criminals have used your cards to withdraw or spend your hard-earned money. Even if it seems like nothing is stolen – sometimes called an “untidy search” in a burglary – a criminal may have photographed items containing your personal or financial information and those details used to perpetrate fraud or other crime. If your bank/credit cards are lost/stolen, please inform your bank immediately, either online or phone 159 to report the matter, so they can help prevent further losses. Please report lost/stolen driving licences to the DVLA at: https://www.gov.uk/replace-a-driving-licence Please report lost/stolen passports to the Passport Office at: https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport/replace
Please do share this important update with friends and family and encourage them to sign up for their own Hampshire Alert: https://www.hampshirealert.co.uk/ link to the Hampshire Alerts is not a crime reporting portal – please do not report crime here.
