As part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, Report Fraud is raising awareness of the importance of protecting online accounts from cyber criminals. Through our latest campaign, we're encouraging the public to strengthen their online security by adopting safer sign-in methods, such as passkeys, and taking simple steps to secure their accounts.

Account hacking occurs when criminals gain unauthorised access to someone's email, social media, or other online accounts. Once in control, they may use these accounts to commit further fraud, such as impersonating the account owner to request money from friends and family, promote fake ticket sales, or obtain access to additional personal information.
