A 28-year-old man from Ringwood has been jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to driving offences and breach of Criminal behaviour Order (CBO). Quincy Rufus Digby Hopkins, of no fixed abode, was sentenced when he appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Friday 30 (October). At a previous court hearing, on Thursday 17 September, Hopkins had admitted to failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis, as well as driving a vehicle dangerously, without a licence and without third party insurance. It follows an incident on Hightown Road, Poulner and Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood on Wednesday 19 August, during which Hopkins was witnessed driving a white Volkswagen Golf. On the same day, he breached his CBO by visiting the Tesco Express store on Butlers Lane in Ringwood, from which he is banned from entering. As well as the time he will now spend behind bars, Hopkins has also been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 28 months. Speaking after sentencing, Sergeant Chris Pell, of Ringwood Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Hopkins has continued to show a complete disregard for the law and the conditions of his Criminal Behaviour Order, which prohibit him from entering several shops in our area. "On this occasion, he also extended that behaviour and criminality to the roads, potentially putting innocent drivers and pedestrians at risk in the process. “I am pleased that he is now locked away and not able to commit further crimes of this nature, or cause any further problems for our local businesses and community. “This outcome should serve as a very clear reminder and message to others considering committing offences in our area - we will not tolerate it. “We will continue to relentlessly pursue you and will continue to work tirelessly to bring you before the courts to face the consequences of your actions.” To report a road-related incident to us, please call 101, or visit the below link; Making a road traffic incident report | Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary
